On December 15, 2025, a determined group of neighbors took their fight for Woodland Hills directly to Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel’s District Office. Carrying a petition with over 2,500 signatures, the community arrived hoping for a face-to-face dialogue about the controversial development threatening their neighborhood. Instead of their elected representative, they were met by field staff who explained that Gabriel was unavailable due to prior commitments.
The atmosphere in the office was tense and emotional. Residents passionately voiced their fears about fast-tracking a high-density project in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone without proper environmental review. They questioned whether the abuse of AB 2011 for this development was truly the legislature's intent. "We don't get to go home somewhere else after five o'clock," one neighbor reminded the staff, highlighting the real-world stakes for families living in the canyon.
While the visit did not yield an immediate meeting with Assemblymember Gabriel, the message was delivered loud and clear. The neighbors left with a tentative plan to meet with the Chief of Staff later in the week, proving that while they may have been met with administrative hurdles, their collective voice is becoming impossible to ignore.
